I can leave my washing before I go, in which case I shall not get it again for a fortnight. But if I could bring it down on Saturday, and add a small parcel to that of the household, I should get it back upon my return to Campden. Could my small parcel be added to the household laundry of Campden on Monday next?
IMurder in the Cathedral1937 Tewkesbury Drama Festival production;f4 haveBrowne, Elliott Martinand Tewkesbury Festival Murder confusion;b9 just heard from Martin Browne to say that the play we shall hear at Tewkesbury on Tuesday week will not be my play but Kingsley Martin’s.1 Now, I had just as soon or sooner hear Kingsley Martin’s play or anybody’s else but my own, but perhaps the Perkins’s and perhaps you would rather hear mine. I have written to Martin to ask on what nights my play (which I would rather not hear) is to be produced. Would you rather go to Tewkesbury on another night if possible to hear my play, instead of Kingsley Martin’s?

I have put up some more pictures, and hope that when you return you will find the central pictures rearranged.
A postcard will reply to my two questions.

1.This was a misunderstanding on the part of TSE. The play produced at the Tewkesbury Festival, by Martin Browne, was the York mystery play Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. There was no connection with the journalist and author Kingsley Martin.
2.James K. Clement (whom TSE had known at Harvard) and his wife Margot.
3.BernardBell, Bernard Iddings Iddings Bell, DD (1886–1958), American Episcopal priest, author and cultural commentator; Warden of Bard College, 1919–33. 4.E. MartinBrowne, Elliott Martin Browne (1900–80), English director and producer, was to direct the first production of Murder in the Cathedral: see Biographical Register.
