[Stamford House, Chipping Campden]
This can’t be a letter, because there is no typewriter here, and I have had to write a few business notes, and my arm & hand are stiffer than ever, from tennis! So it is merely a note to thank you for your letter which came on Thursday – andEnglandEast Coker, Somerset;e9visited again;a5 IRichmonds, theTSE's Netherhampton weekends with;a7 look forward first to writing at length (with news of Salisbury and a satisfactory visit to East Coker) when I get back on Thursday – and then only one week until I see you – but these intervals in the summer seem at the time harder to bear than the whole winter – harder for not being very far away. I hope for news of your delegates’ party (Fred. has not answered my letter) but most anxiously for a conversation about your discussion with the doctor. I am glad of fine weather for you, & hope you can sit quietly in the sun. My handwriting gets worse and worse.
