I can only write a short note tonight, as I have my packing to do – First to thank you for your sweet surprise note written just before you left; andAmericaWoods Hole, Falmouth, Massachusetts;i2TSE and EH arrange holiday at;a1 then to say that as I cannot get to you on Monday – alas! – becausetravels, trips and plansTSE's 1936 American trip;c4TSE's itinerary;b1 HenryEliots, the Henryjoin Randolph holiday;a6 & T. will be coming for the weekend, so that I cannot leave on Sunday – Ada & Sheff propose to motor all the way down on Monday – I shall spend Monday night with them and take the 12.30 to Woods Holl [sic] on Tuesday morning. I wish that I could be with you sooner, for it is very trying to be in the same part of the world and not be with you.
SoElsmiths, theseminal Woods Hole stay with;a1 will you let me know the address of Mrs. Ellsworth [sc. Elsworth]– in case I am not met! – and when you will be at Woods Hole yourself. I trust you to explain my difficulty & express my very genuine regrets to our kind hosts, as I cannot arrive in time to see Mr. Ellsmith.
I will write more leisurely from Randolph, but as we do not arrive till Tuesday I may not be able to write till Wednesday, & then will write to Clement Circle.
I have felt in the last week increasingly nearer to you. Say that I am right.
