I look forward to more recent news on Monday. I shall be glad to get to sea tomorrow, as one needs a rest after so much hospitality. This week I made a broadcast speech on Monday, & we have had a dinner or a reception every night, & various lunch & tea engagements. And the Portuguese do not go to bed early. I shall give you a full account, with cuttings and photographs!
Au revoir in July – OhMorrell, Lady Ottolinedies;h1. I have kept forgetting to tell you <perhaps I did not like to think of it> that Ottoline Morrell died in a nursing home at Tunbridge Wells.1 It was unexpected & a great shock. This was just before I left, so I could not go to funeral or requiem.2 AndMorrell, Philipill;a3 Philip was very ill in the same nursing home.

Julian Vinogradoff (OM’s daughter) to Valerie Eliot, 3 Mar. 1985: ‘Almost the last signature in [OM’s Visitors’ Book at Gower Street] February 21st 1938 is T. S. Eliot alone. After that I think she was too ill to go on seeing people.’
