Kevin Powers

Kevin Powers was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. In 2004 and 2005 he served with the US Army in Iraq. His debut novel, The Yellow Birds, was published in 2012. Letter Composed During a Lull in the Fighting (Sceptre) was was the Poetry Book Society Summer Choice and shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize 2014 and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Most recently, he has published two novels: A Shout in the Ruins (2018) and A Line in the Sand (2023), both from Little, Brown and Company. Author photo © Buffalo Sojka Studios
