Marian/Marion Cushing Eliot (1877–1964): fourth child of Henry Ware Eliot and Charlotte Eliot. E. Martin Browne, who in a later year visited Marion Eliot’s small apartment in Cambridge, Mass., noted: ‘The flat might have been in South Kensington. All the echoes of a big family home – her mother’s eighteenth-century bureau, family pictures, silver tea equipage – most pleasant and very cosy’ (E. Martin Browne and Henzie Browne, Two in One [1981], 206).
