Kenneth Pickthorn

Kenneth Pickthorn (1892–1975): historian and politician; Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, from 1914; Dean, 1919–29; Tutor, 1927–35; President, 1937–44. From 1950 to 1966 he was Conservative MP for a Midlands constituency; an outspoken parliamentarian, critical of cant, he was made a baronet in 1959, Privy Councillor in 1964. His works include Some Historical Principles of the Constitution (1925) and Early Tudor Government (2 vols., 1934).
