Will Spens

Will Spens (1882–1962): educator and scientist; Master of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, 1927–52. Early in his career he gave a course of lectures on Belief and Practice (1915); he wrote on the Eucharist in Essays Catholic and Critical by Members of the Anglican Communion, ed. E. Gordon Selwyn (1926), and on birth control in Theology (1931). He was a member of the commission on Christian doctrine appointed by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, 1922–38. Knighted in 1939.
