Helen Seaverns
(1863–1950)
Helen Seaverns, née Gertrude Brown (daughter of the artist Harrison Bird Brown), was the widow of the American-born businessman and later Liberal MP, Joel Herbert Seaverns (1860–1923), who had moved to Britain in 1894, having married Brown in 1892. Her principal residence was at 25 Millbank, London S.W.1 (which was damaged by a bomb in autumn 1940, and thereafter she divided her time between a hotel in Knightsbridge and the south coast resort of Hove). TSE was to inscribe a copy of FR to Seaverns on 1 Apr. 1939.
