George Scott Moncrieff (1910–74) – ‘Scomo’ – journalist, author, playwright and novelist. Educated in Edinburgh and at Aldenham School, England, he won praise for his first novel Café Bar (1932) – ‘low-life vignettes of London’. Other works included Scottish Country (1935), Edinburgh (1946), and Death’s Bright Shadow (1948).
