\"\"The Poetry Book Society is pleased to announce the Shortlist for the T. S. Eliot Prize 2005, to be awarded to the writer of the best new collection of poetry published in 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now in its thirteenth year, the T. S. Eliot Prize is ‘poetry’s most coveted award’ (Jane Wheatley, The Times<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Judges David Constantine (Chair), Kate Clanchy and Jane Draycott chose the following ten collections:<\/span><\/p>\n

Polly Clark \u2013 Take Me with You<\/em> (Bloodaxe Books)<\/p>\n

Carol Ann Duffy \u2013 Rapture<\/em> (Picador Poetry)<\/p>\n

Helen Farish \u2013 Intimates<\/em> (Cape Poetry)<\/p>\n

David Harsent \u2013 Legion (Faber & Faber)<\/p>\n

Sin\u00e9ad Morrissey \u2013 The State of the Prisons<\/em> (Carcanet Press)<\/p>\n

Alice Oswald \u2013 Woods etc<\/em>. (Faber & Faber)<\/p>\n

Pascale Petit \u2013 The Huntress<\/em> (Seren)<\/p>\n

Sheenagh Pugh \u2013 The Movement of Bodies<\/em> (Seren)<\/p>\n

John Stammers \u2013 Stolen Love Behaviour<\/em> (Picador Poetry)<\/p>\n

Gerard Woodward \u2013 We Were Pedestrians <\/em>(Chatto & Windus)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Each of these collections are available at the usual discount from the Poetry Book Society.<\/span><\/p>\n

The judges will make their final decision on Monday 16 January 2006, when the prize of \u00a310,000 will be presented by Mrs Valerie Eliot at an award ceremony in London.<\/span><\/p>\n
