Eliot Prize Shortlist Readings at the Southbank Centre\u2019s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday 17 January 2027. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You won\u2019t want to miss performances from the shortlisted poets, as chosen by judges Leontia Flynn (Chair), Ishion Hutchinson and Daisy Lafarge.<\/p>\n<p>Masterfully hosted by Ian McMillan (BBC Radio 4\u2019s <em>The Verb<\/em>) the evening is the best way to brighten up January and start your literary year, offering a unique encounter with contemporary poetry. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tseliot.com\/prize\/yomi-sode-on-the-t-s-eliot-prize-shortlist-readings-participatory-alive-communal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yomi \u1e62ode, shortlisted in 2022, describes the event as \u2018participatory, alive, communal\u2019<\/a><\/strong>: \u2018The Oscars of UK poetry had me fusing poems together, blurring their edges, and leaving space for the audience to lean in.\u2019 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tseliot.com\/prize\/ted-hodgkinson-on-the-t-s-eliot-prize-shortlist-readings-epic-scale-transformed-into-an-intimate-space\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Head of Literature and Spoken Word at the Southbank Centre, Ted Hodgkinson notes the way \u2018the hall transforms into an intimate space<\/a><\/strong>, the distance between poet and audience bridged by poems as distinctive as they are arresting.
