Her poetry collections include <em>Close Relatives <\/em>(Secker, 1981); <em>The Handless Maiden <\/em>(Cape Poetry, 1994), winner of the Heinemann Award;\u00a0<i>The Book of Blood<\/i> (Cape Poetry, 2006), shortlisted for the Forward Prize and Costa Award for Poetry; and <em>I Want! I Want! <\/em>(Cape Poetry, 2019). In 1993 she was awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship and in 1999 a Cholmondeley Award.
