She received an Eric Gregory Award in 1974, and her first full-length collection was <em>The Orchard Upstairs<\/em> (1980). This has been followed by seven further collections, three of which have been Poetry Book Society Recommendations, including <em>Adventures with My Horse<\/em> (1988). She is also the author of three novels and with Peter Redgrove has written two non-fiction books and two further novels. Her collection, <em>Redgrove&#8217;s Wife<\/em> (Bloodaxe Books, 2006), was shortlisted for both the Forward and the T. S. Eliot Prizes. Her publications since judging the T. S. Eliot Prize in 2009 include: <em>Sandgrain and Hourglass<\/em> (Bloodaxe Books, 2010), a Poetry Book Society Recommendation; and <em>Unsent: New &amp; Selected Poems 1980-2012<\/em> (Bloodaxe Books, 2012), which drew on ten collections published over three decades plus the title-collection, <em>Unsent<\/em>. Her later collections from Bloodaxe are <em>Will you walk a little faster?<\/em> (2017) and <em>Lyonesse<\/em> (2021), longlisted for the Laurel Prize 2022. <em>Heath<\/em>, a collaboration about Hounslow Heath with John Greening, was published by Nine Arches in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.penelopeshuttle.co.uk\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.penelopeshuttle.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Penelope Shuttle was born in Middlesex in 1947, and has lived in Cornwall since 1970.
