His debut collection\u00a0<em>physical<\/em> (Cape Poetry, 2016) was the only poetry collection ever to have won the <em>Guardian<\/em>\u00a0First Book Award. It also won the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize, a Somerset Maugham Award, an Eric Gregory Award and a Northern Writers\u2019 award. It was shortlisted for the Costa Poetry Award and the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Most recently\u00a0<em>physical<\/em> has been translated into Norwegian and Galician, and came out in a bilingual French edition.\u00a0His second collection,<em>\u00a0playtime\u00a0<\/em>(Cape Poetry, 2018), was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation, Poetry Book of the Month in both the <em>Observer<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Telegraph,\u00a0<\/em>a Poetry Book of the Year in\u00a0the<em>\u00a0Sunday Times\u00a0<\/em>and won the inaugural Polari Prize. He is senior lecturer at the Manchester Writing School at MMU. Since judging the T. S.
