S. Eliot Festival 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actor Jeremy Irons and novelist Ali Smith now head the line-up for this year\u2019s T. S. Eliot Festival, to be held at Little Gidding on Sunday July 9<span style=\"font-size: 13.5px;\">th<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival is held each year <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-5632 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/tseliot.com\/foundation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/download.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"219\" \/>in the grounds of Little Gidding: a day of talks, readings and discussions, with the opportunity for visitors to see inside the church which inspired the last of Eliot\u2019s <em>Four Quartets<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On the centenary of the publication of <em>Prufrock and Other Observations<\/em>, T. S.<em>\u00a0<\/em>Eliot\u2019s first collection of poetry, the award-winning novelist Ali Smith will read &#8216;The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock&#8217;<em>,<\/em> and discuss the poem with biographer Adam Begley.<\/p>\n<p>And in a unique performance, Jeremy Irons, actor and celebrated reader of T. S. Eliot, will read <em>Little Gidding <\/em>at Little Gidding<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event also features lectures by two distinguished academics, Robert Crawford and Marjorie Perloff.
